British Airways considers A380 expansion purchase

Following the exciting news of Emirates new deal with Airbus to purchase 36 superjumbos worth US$16 billion, there are strong rumours that the aircraft building giant is now in talks to sell new A380 superjumbo planes to British Airways.

The UK carrier currently has 12 A380s in its fleet. As they wind back their aging B747 fleet BA has been quietly in the market for a replacement aircraft. At present they are considering adding six to seven A380s to to its fleet.

Considering the situation BA is currently under at Heathrow Airport where the airport is heavily slot restricted, expanding onto bigger aircraft might assist BA in better utilising the slots that it currently possesses.

Do you think that BA should expand their A380 fleet?
