Qatar Airways has announced the extension of their successful +Qatar program where Qatar passengers in any cabin class can claim a free 96 hour Qatar transit visa and one free hotel night stopover to 31 December 2018. This is great value and something that when I was transiting into Doha last year would have taken up instantly.
Doha is working hard to be a must visit stopover destination rather than a connection hub, similar to Dubai and Singapore. Both cities offer a similar incentive and have performed strongly in terms of transit patronage.
The program commenced in May last year and was originally meant to have run through to September 30, 2017, before it was extended to bookings up to February 28, 2018, and for stays through April 30, 2018. The new extension will be valid for bookings through to December 28, 2018, and for stays through to December 31, 2018.
In addition to the free 96 hour transit visa, Qatar Airways also offer one free hotel night stay and a greatly reduced second night stay for $50. Hotel types vary based on cabin class with economy passengers given options such as the Holiday Inn while premium passengers can book into more luxurious hotel such as Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, etc.
Having travelled and transited through Doha I think this is one deal worth thinking about and is the perfect way to break up that long flight from Europe to Australia, making the flight somewhat more manageable for those sitting in economy class.
